For the third and final time this year, invited artists will be exploring the theme of favour<\/b> for six weeks<\/b> – this time with Denise Lee<\/b>, Philipp Kolychev<\/b> and Anne Sch\u00e4dlich<\/b> as local artists.
\nThe results of this work phase will be visible in a public intervention week<\/b> from 16 to 23 August<\/b> – you are cordially invited to attend!<\/p>\n
To kick off the residency, we had a special Welcome Weekend<\/b>, which was organised and accompanied by the (K)Einheit <\/b>initiative team. (K)Einheit deals with East German remembrance culture from the perspective of Generation Z.<\/p>\n
We started on Friday evening<\/b> in the Wirkbau: the ice was quickly broken over home-rolled summer rolls and initial discussions. We were given an insight into the work of (K)Einheit, which then showed its own documentary series: “(K)Einheit – How Generation Z thinks about the East<\/b> ” – a filmic dialogue format with ten young people from East Germany. The series was created in 2022.<\/p>\n
On Saturday,<\/b> after a relaxed brunch, we went on a city walk guided by (K)Einheit. One stop was the Ka\u00dfberg prison, a place of learning and remembrance<\/b>, where we took part in a very informative and moving guided tour. Afterwards we visited the art installation “Fischelant<\/b> ” – a project of 3000 garages <\/b>in the context of the European Capital of Culture. We ended the evening together with karaoke at Lokomov <\/b>– a great opportunity to get to know each other even better!<\/p>\n
On Sunday<\/b>, we visited the documentation centre <\/b>for the NSU complex (open trial)<\/b>. We took part in a guided tour of the centre. The intense impressions had a lasting effect, so we stayed longer at the centre to take in the archive material and the rooms. At the end of the weekend, there was a joint summary.<\/p>\n
A big thank you to (K)Einheit<\/b> for their intelligent and sensitive guidance – and to our resident artists for the open start to these six weeks full of impressions, questions and artistic research.<\/p>\n
